How Do We Bridge The Gap

With respect to Huntington, he does acknowledge that there has been a gap between the ideal version of American society and its reality; unfortunately, he stops short of truly understanding what this gap means to the masses of those affected by it. While Huntington is not all wrong, he certainly is not all right. He makes very persuasive arguments about how a nation’s borders, language and culture are vital to preserving a sense of national unity and fostering an overall national identity. Neither Dr. King nor Huntington identify or encourage the extremist from either side of the aisle rather both it would seem have a genuine desire to see this nation flourish and develop while meeting the needs of all not some of its citizens, which it is fully capable of doing.
