Colorectal Cancer
Colorectal cancer affects both the colon and the rectum. Cancer that starts out in the colon is known as colon cancer while rectal cancer describes cancer that is based in the rectum.
When the cells inside both the colon and the rectum become abnormal or grow out of control, the result is cancer. The abnormal cells get bigger and bigger as the cancer grows.
The colon is between the rectum and the small intestine. It stores bodily waste and removes the water before it is passed on to the rectum.
Symptoms of colorectal cancer are hard to detect but the stool is usually the first sign of colorectal cancer.
