What is up with modern science today….?
before work today I caught a show on the science channel, where a guy looking at a blurred image from the Hubble constructed the existence of a black hole in the center of the galaxy from a smudged blur of bright light.
He didn’t say it COULD be a black hole…
he said it WAS a black hole,
basing this on no more than a smudge of light. and then applying vague mathematical equations which there is absolutely no authority to apply to this situation……except he claimed it was a black hole. He then went on and constructed this huge scenario of the light being emitted by the stars that were being sucked into the the black hole and on and on and on and I couldn’t get over the fact that there was not one piece of scientific data to support any of this except a smudge on a picture, that had been blown up three times and the chromatic scale had been changed.
And he was stating all of this grand supposition as FACT
And I was thinking hold the phone, where are the truth police????? Where are the Fact Feds???? Can these guys really go around espousing these suppositions as facts, get on national TV and no one calls them on it.
This had as much credibility as the "badge man" in the Mary Moorman photos at the Kennedy assassination.
Is this what modern science has become…..suppositions accepted as fact with little or no supporting data????
Since when did science become a "faith based" operation? Religion by it’s nature is supposed to be subjective and on the will of the believer……but when did science become a religion?
If science has become a religion and scientists have become the new televangelists, then it has it not lost all of it’s authority and we who espouse Creation are on the same level as those who espouse Evolution…..merely someone expressing a belief?
Evolution is a religion which I don’t have enough faith to believe in.

You’re not an astronomer or a theoretical physicist so I don’t think you’re in any position to criticize their methods.
You don’t even know the mathematics behind black hole identification. If you did, then you might have an argument, but you don’t.

Because shows like that gain more viewers by sensationalizing science. Just like Scientific American the magazine does. They are usually 20% science and 80% speculation. That is how TV operates these days, superficiality over truth, the almighty advertising dollar conquers all
I mean, just for one example, how many times has the dubious title ‘Scientists create life’ graced magazine covers when the truth is that it has never been done to date?

What exactly is a scientific fact to you? I bet I could link you to any number of videos proving what they were saying is true but you would either not understand or deny it. There is just no convincing people like you of anything other than what you believe.
Are you trying to say that all the scientists of the world get together and plan out elaborate lies to fool the general public…. think a little bit about what your saying. I’d rather believe what makes more sense.

It depends on what the smudge was actually, and how the picture had been taken and of what, and why.
Since you’ve not bothered to include these rather salient details, I’m guessing you don’t know, because all you wanted to do was rant. You’ve seen something YOU think is silly, and have decided it must be. You have absolutely no idea what the scientist in question was talking about do you?
Suggest you go back to the bible – it’s play school level theology should be just about right for your apparent interest in intellectual excercise.

Personally, I would take anything presented on television with a grain of salt. If you want the true claims of scientists, read a scientific journal.

Black Holes are actually based on what happens in space around them. Since they absorb light. I am not sure how one can photograph something that light does not bounce off of and therefore cannot be seen.
But if you really want a scientific absurdity, look up how dark matter and dark energy has been determined. The belief that dark matter is what its been determined to be because it has gravity, and cannot be seen.

What you most likely saw was one ripping a star apart. The speed that it does that points to the huge gravity well, and the fact that the star disappears proves it’s a black hole.
There was a huge battle about 20 years back about this. But they have had the time to observe all the things that the objectors said were missing. There is no doubt there is one at the center of every galaxy.

were inventing facts he would be unmasked by outraged colleagues and would have

He can’t give all the evidence and all the training he went through to learn all this. There are no 4 year T.V. shows. Just because YOU don’t have the training and knowledge doesn’t mean he’s giving all the knowledge that he has on the subject. If you were actually an astronomer maybe you would understand what he’s talking about.

You’re basing your opinion on all of science, on one episode of a popular science channel, especially on a particular sound bite edited by people with no special knowledge of astronomy about one particular picture, without knowing anything about astronomy?
Oh dear…
Obviously the entire science of astronomy isn’t based on dudes looking at smudges and randomly assigning names to them (using a dice which has the sides "black hole", "Galaxy", "cloud", "meteorite", "star"). It’s a science programme, they’re not looking for hours and hours of explanation, they just want pretty pictures and short words, and soundbites. The picture you saw likely wasn’t the whole evidence for that assertion, it’s just they wanted a picture of the black hole and pulled out a random one which looked pretty. Black holes are detected using x-ray imaging, though there are other methods. Sadly I’m not an expert but astronomers aren’t too hard to find, look up your local college and ask them.
If there was "little or no supporting data" needed why on earth would astronomers have to spend so much time doing work, and why would telescopes be needed? Like any science, it relies on the gathering of evidence- that’s why science is called empirical, and that’s why it’s not a religion.
Science hasn’t become a religion, though the reporting of it (and obviously the teaching of it) has become spectacularly poor.

All science is , is someone expressing their opinion. Some things they are right about, and much they are wrong about.
Because when science disagrees with the word of God, it is false.
Most scientists are athiests, therefore they dont understand God or His word, or the supernatural world at all.
God is a supernatural God and can do anything He wants to do..
HE created science. He created all the scientist study . and how sad that most study science to try and prove there is no God.

Watch anything on National Geo, lately? Some is awesome. But as with most science, most will not agree with God. When they dont understand the realm of God, The Supernatural realm, and to believe and know what God says to us, they will always seek to use all their studies to go against god.
But, good news.
There are a few really awesome scientists out there that do belive, and use their studies to show there is a God, and its all very real, and all of science will show that He is so.

Its not the absence of any religion. If you talk to scientists, some claim athiesm, yet in reality if they keep talking you will see, they believe in a higher power, just not the God of the Holy Bible, with the full teachings of Yesua. Jesus Christ.

Knowledge, science…
Just like the scientists for years told us that cigerattes didnt cause cancer.
Yes it did, and we know it now.
But, we were told it didnt. We hear many things the scientists tell us that dont line up, with Gods word or even common sense.
Its only when knowledge/science lines up with Gods word, that we as believers know it is so.
Anything else, we simply know it not so, and no longer think on it.
We have all the answers we need in His Holy Bible.
If more would only go there and read and know Him and what He is saying to us.
Even all of the scientists dont agree.
But , true knowledge of God is power, when its truly His.
And in Daniel, we are told that Gods ppl are intelligent and that knowledge will increase in the lasts days.
More will come to know truth, but many will still fall away.

According to my biology textbook, there is no truth in science because of the thesis statements that can be changed. In order for something to be true, it cannot be changed – ever – PERIOD!!!
Remember that science is a "study" that tries to figure out the "physical" alone, so it’s NOT a religious belief. Those who rely too much on it over God are lost people because science cannot and does not explain the purpose life, our existence, and everything else around us. No wonder even Darwin during his lasts days read the Bible because it is the only truth. Jesus is the way the truth and the life!!!
