µsurf cylinderinspector

Cylinder bore topography can have multifarious effects on internal combustion engine performance. Engine efficiency, power, lifetime and emissions can all be influenced by the surface topography inside the cylinder bore.

The µsurf® cylinderinspector from NanoFocus, Inc. is a 3D non-contact system specifically developed for measuring the surface topography of cylinder bores.

The µsurf® cylinderinspector system can be mounted directly on the motor block and can measure cylinder bores with diameters as small as 80 mm to a depth of 100 mm. A joystick controlled fully motorized positioning system allows the sensor to be positioned at the point of interest in the cylinder bore. The µsurf® cylinderinspector system has an accuracy in the nanometer range and measurements show excellent agreement with those from stylus systems. Individual measurements have a 0.8 x 0.8 mm field of view and up to 100 individual measurements can be stitched together to provide any desired field of view sizeand shape.
